As the lead designer on this project, I was tasked to take the original design of the Easy One Touch Car Mount and make it “less boring” and more functional across a wide range of vehicles. To make the original car mount less boring, I took the more simplistic oval shape of the original product and gave it a futuristic look. By adding hard edges and more transition shapes when in different modes (open/close), I was able to allow light to reflect on different planes and edges, drawing attention to the product at different points of view. Additionally, I utilized different materials in different areas to provide additional light-play so the product can stand out on its own on the dash or in box on display.

For engineering a functional feature to this product, I patented an extendable arm to the mount. This extendable arm allow users to focus on driving and reach less towards the front console. Additonally, the extendable arm allows a wider range of vehicles to use this product due to different types of vehicles with different dashboard setups. Other features include a sliding base that can move from side to side, allowing access to different charge port, mic hole and speakers to any device.
